​Principles and Rules for Online Exams of Formal Education​

1.    2020-2021 academic year fall semester exams will be held as Midterm, Midterm-Make-up, Final and Make-up Exams.

2.    Exams will be conducted as multiple choice (test), open-ended (classic) or homework / projects in the types determined by the instructor of the course. Only one of these types can be used for each exam.

3.    Exams will be held on İstanbul University Online Exam System (http://iusinav.İstanbul.edu.tr).

4.    Students who cannot take the exam or cannot complete the exam due to any technical problem (internet, power outage, etc.) that may occur during the midterm exam will be able to enter the Midterm-Make-up exam if they report their problems to their faculties with a petition and as a result of the examinations (examination of log records) to be made by the Faculty.

5.    Academic units will announce the exam schedules through their own communication channels.

6.    Midterm, Midterm-Make-up, Final and Make-up exam questions will all be different from each other.

7.    Students who upload an answer sheet to the system in the midterm exam will not be able to take the Midterm-Make-up exam.

8.    The detailed rules and principles regarding the exams will be announced through the manuals to be prepared separately in Turkish and English for the instructors and students.

9. Questions and answers to questions will be presented to students in mixed order.

10. A single question and answer options will be displayed on the screen.

11. Watermark and QR CODE application will take place on question screens to increase exam security.

12. Students who leave the system during the exam will be able to return to their exams again. However, the time elapsed after disconnecting from the system will not be added to the exam duration.

13. Wrong answers will not take away the correct answer.

14. After passing the question by leaving the question blank or answering during the exam, it will not be allowed to return to the previous question / questions for control or correction.

- General Rules for Open-Ended Exams

15. According to the lecturer's preference, the answers will be uploaded automatically through the editor in the system or by creating a file outside the system.

16. Students will be given 15 minutes additional time to upload their exam papers to the system in the exams to be held by creating a file outside the system.

17. In exams where open-ended questions are asked, the system will check the content uploaded by the student for similarity. Disciplinary action will be taken against the student who is found to be cheating or uploading high-level similar content.

- General Rules Regarding Homework / Project Exams

18. The work to be prepared in the homework / project exams will be created by students outside the system and uploaded to the system within the date range determined by the instructor.

19. In the homework / project exams, the system will check the content uploaded by the student for similarity. Disciplinary action will be taken against the student who is found to be cheating or uploading high-level similar content.
