A First in the History of the European Commission

The fund which is transferred to European Commission by Turkey on Research & Development (R&D) activities each year has been decided to open only to the use of Turkish scientists.

According to the decision given as a result of Turkey's negotiations at the European Commission; all of the 80 million euros which Turkey will give to the European Commission will be used in the projects of Turkish researchers. The first decision taken in this direction in the history of the European Commission is announced by Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank: "Our projects could not have been benefited from using of funds due to lacking of budget although they had high added value. From now on, with the resource we transferred to pool as Turkey, only our projects will be supported".

TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) was persistence.

A new support program was built in order to Turkey can get the resource that it deserves from the European Union Framework Programs. There has been an intensive negotiation process between TUBITAK and the European Commission on the new mechanism. TUBITAK was insistent on the support model envisaging for the returning again to Turkey the resources transferred from Turkey. European Commission has accepted the new support program taking into account the Turkey's R & D ecosystem that will constitute added value for international and multi-partner R & D and innovation ecosystem.

Scientific Competitiveness

With the new program, improve the scientific competitiveness of Turkey and ensure the efficient uses of national resources are aimed. In this way, it also aims to increase the effectiveness of 2023 vision and strategy prepared in the field of research and innovation.
