In Siemens Opera Contest which is the first and only annual event in Turkey, İU Faculty of Economics Departmen of Business student Murat Can Güvem received honorable mention.

This year’s winner became Hakan Çiftçioğlu. Special award given instead of second prize was given to Semih Aşık and Yeliz Pelin Ceylan, third prize was given to Tolga Siner. Performers who gained prize, receive appreciation with their short performance.

İU Faculty of Economics Department of Business student Güvem who gaind the honorable mention, was born in 1991, Ankara. He started to being interested in music at primary and secondary school. He began to sing in Turkish music choirs which he was a member of, as a solo singer in 2011. In the following years as he continued to Turkish music, he realized his interest in opera with newly opened Samsun State Opera and Ballet in Samsun. Starting to study singing with Samsun State Opera and Ballet General Manager Mehmet Ortaç who discovered his’s talent Güvem grabed a change to give performance in Italian Mezzo-Soprano Bruna Baglioni’s master class in 2013, Samsun. As a result of his performance in master class, he was invited to Italia by Baglioni.

Güvem who continued his technical and repertoire studies in Italia, had a change to take the stage country’s most important operas.
