Professors:

Dinc ALADA is Professor of economics. He studied at the University of Istanbul, Faculty of Economics and received his graduate degrees from the same university's Institute of Social Sciences. His research interests include history of economic thought and methodology, economics of uncertainty.

Feryal Orhon BASIK is a Professor of Accounting and Finance. Graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration, Istanbul University in 1973. After her graduation she went to the USA where she worked for a multinational company from 1976 to 1977. After having received her PhD in 1978, she attended International Teacher's Programme held in Manchester Business School and received her International Teacher Certificate in 1980. In 1981 she spent a year in Business Institute of Hamburg University as a visiting research professor. She became Associate Professor in 1984 and Professor in 1992. She has been teaching Accounting and Finance at this Faculty as well as the Academy of Turkish Air Force and the Turkish Naval Academy. Her books include "Financial Accounting", "Profit Planning", "Cost Accounting in Transportation Companies".

Fatmagul BERKTAY is Professor of political science in the International Relations Department. She received her B.A. (International Relations), M.A. and Ph.D. (political science) from the University of Ankara, Faculty of Political Science. She also holds a degree in Women's studies from the University of York (UK). She teaches History of Political Thought and Modern Political Theories (undergraduate), Modern Political Theories and Debates (graduate) at the Faculty of Political Sciences, and also Feminist Theories in the Women's Centre of Istanbul University. Her book, "Women and Religion, A Comparative Study", has been published in English. She is a founding member of the Economic and Social History Foundation of Turkey .

Naz CAVUSOGLU is Professor of Constitutional Law. She received her Ph.D. in 1991 from the Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul University. She teaches Constitutional Law and Human Rights Law, and has a special interest in European Human Rights Law and the Rights of Minorities. Her publications include: The Protection of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms under the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Community Law (1994), Introduction to Constitutional Law (1997) and Minority Rights in International Human Rights Law (2001).

Birsen ERSEL is Professor of Labour Economics in the Department of Public Administration. After her graduation in 1967 she worked in the Ministry of Finance between 1972-73 and in TODAİE in 1976. She received her MBA from Ankara Institute of Economic and Trade Sciences in 1977, and her M.A in Social Policy from Ankara University Faculty of Political Science in 1985. She received her Ph.D. in 1993 in Public Administration. Since 1994 she is working at the Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Science.

Sevgi GURAN, Professor of Economics, BA at the School of Economics (Istanbul University, 1967) where she obtained her Ph.D. degree (Economic Concentration, 1973) and was promoted to Associate Professor (Economic Stabilization Theories and Policies, 1979). From 1983 on with the School of Political Sciences (Istanbul University), full Professor (1989) and head of the Chair of Economics, member of the School’s Board of Executives and Editorial Board; teaching “Introduction to Economics”, “Macroeconomics” and “Microeconomics”; main interest and area of research and publications on “economic policy”, commands German and English as foreign languages.

Murat OZYUKSEL is a Professor at the department of International Relations and the head of the Political History Section. He was born in 1957 and graduated from Istanbul High School. He received his BA from the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University. He completed his PhD in the same faculty in 1986. After getting his degree, he taught at the University of Uludağ at the Faculty of Administrative and Economic Sciences and then in the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University. He published three books. These are: "Osmanlı Alman İlişkilerinin Gelişim Sürecinde Anadolu ve Bağdat Demiryolları", "Hicaz Demiryolu", "Feodalite ve Osmanlı Toplumu". The first one got the “award of encouragement of young social scientist” from the Society of Turkish Social Sciences. He has published numerous articles in different journals. In 2000, he prepared a documentary film for TRT on the history of Ottoman Railways. He did not only write the text of the documentary but also made its soundtrack and narrated. He was a visiting scholar at Michigan University in 2006-2007 and gave conferences on Ottoman Railway History. He teaches on political and social history of Ottoman Empire and Europe.

Ahmet G. SAYAR is Professor of Economics, BA at the School of Economics (Istanbul University, 1968) and MA degree in Birmingham University (1972). He obtained his PhD. degree (at the School of Economics, Istanbul University,1976) and promoted Associate Professor (1980). From 1983 on with the School of Political Sciences (Istanbul University), full Professor (1988); teaching “Introduction to Economics”, “History of Economic Thought”, “Turkish Economic History”; main interest area of research and publications on “economic methodology” and “history of economic thought”.

Faruk SONMEZOGLU is Professor at the Department of International Relations. He received his Ph.D. in 1980. He became associate professor in 1989 and professor in 1996. His lectures include International Politics, Turkish Foreign Policy Analysis at graduate and undergraduate levels. His areas of interest are Foreign Policy Analysis and Turkish Foreign Policy particularly Turkish-Greek Relations, Cyprus Problem and Turkish-US Relations in which he has published widely.

Ersan SEN is Professor in the Department of Public Administration. He received his Ph.D. from the Istanbul University Faculty of Law 1994. His lectures include Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and International Criminal Procedure Law. His areas of interest are Protection of the Privacy, Environment Law, Illegal Evidences.

Gulay Gunluk SENESEN is Professor in the Department of Public Administration. She received her B.A. (1978) and M.A. (1979) in Economics, Boğaziçi University. She gained her PhD (1984) in Quantitative Economics from Istanbul Technical University. She became Junior Expert in State Planning Organization (1979-1981), Research Assistant and then Lecturer in Faculty of Management, Istanbul Technical University (1981-1996). Research interests and publications in defense economics, input-output modeling and gender aspects of employment. Her lectures include those on Turkish economy, development economics, research methods, mathematical statistics and econometrics.

Rauf VERSAN is Professor of Public International Law and Chairman of the Department of International Relations. He received his B.A. at the Faculty of Law of Istanbul University and did his LL.B and Ph.D. at the Cambridge University. He was visiting scholar to the Max-Planck Institute for Foreign public Law and International Law, Heidelberg, in 1984-1985. He is lecturer in Public International Law at the Faculty of Political Science, Istanbul University since 1986. He is a member of International Law Association.

Associate Professors:

Adalet Bayramoglu ALADA graduated from the Department of Public Administration of Marmara University. She received her M.A and Ph.D. Degrees in Political Science and Public Administration from the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University. Since 1984 Adalet Bayramoğlu Alada is working as Associate Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Istanbul University. Her main research areas are Urban History, Local Governments and Urban Polities.

Esra NEMLI CALISKAN graduated from Boğaziçi University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration in 1991. She attended the "International Management" certificate programme in 1993 and took her BSc. in 1994. She gained her PhD with a thesis entitled "Corporate Environmental Management and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Practices in Turkey" from Istanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences in 2000.

Emrah CENGIZ is Associate Professor of Marketing and Production Management. He holds a BA in Public Administration, Istanbul University. He gained his MBA and PhD in Business Administration from Istanbul University. Emrah Cengiz lectures on Public Relations, International Business and Marketing. His expertise and research focus on international business, globalization, relationship marketing and CRM.

Serpil CAKIR is Associate Professor in Political Science. She received her B.A. from Marmara University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Science. She got her Ph.D. from Istanbul University. She worked in the Women's Research Centre of Istanbul University where she lectured on Methodology in Gender Studies and History of Women, and Oral History. She worked in the project on the "Oral History of Pioneer Women of the Republic". She carried out the section on the Turks living in London of the London Museum's "Oral History Project on Peopling London". Her publications include those on Women's history and movement, Feminist methodology, Oral History, Gender and Politics. She is currently working on the oral history project on "Women Parliamentarians in Turkey, Political Representation and Gender"

Ayse Zeynep DUREN is Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration. She graduated from Grenoble II University, Faculty of Economics in 1983. She took her master's degree from the same University in 1984. She has completed her PhD in Istanbul University with a thesis entitled "Quality Circles in Organizations, State of Turkish Private Industry and a Case Study" in 1990. She is lecturing on Basic Management, New Developments in Approaches to Management and Organization.

Murat ERDAL holds a BSc. in Electrical Engineering (1991) from the Faculty of Engineering, Yıldız University and PhD in Business Administration (2000) from the Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul University. He lectures on Public Administration in the Digital Age, Production and Service Management, Technology Policies and Strategic Competition, International Business, E-Commerce, Internet Advertising Management, Computers in Management, Technology Policies and Industry Analysis, Advanced Production Techniques. His expertise and research interests include e-government, e-business, high technology marketing, e-logistics, techno-security, advertising management on the net, production and operations management, service management, international business, innovation policies and global research&development.

Birsen ORS is Associate Professor of political Science in the Department of International Relations. She took her B.A. (1982), M.A. (1984) an Ph.D. (1990) from Istanbul University. She is lecturing on Turkish Political Life, Political Sociology and Political Development at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Her areas of interest include Political Development and Modernisation, Military Governments, Turkish Political Life, problems of Democracy in Developing Countries.

Selim YAZICI is Associate Professor of Management and Organization at department of Business Administration. He received his BSc. (1992) in Mechanical Engineering from Yildiz Technical University, and MBA (1994) from Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Business Administration. He has completed his Ph.D. at the same faculty with his thesis entitled "Learning Organizations and a Case Study from Turkish Industry" in 1999. His research interests are in Corporate Governance, Family Business, Business Ethics, Experiential Learning, Total Quality Management, Organizational Learning, Learning Organizations, E-business, E-learning, and publications of books include E-Learning (2004), Electronic Insurance (2002), and Learning Organizations (2001). He is lecturing on Introduction to Business, Management, International Business, Organizational Behavior, Corporate Governance, Business Ethics, Project Management and Strategic Human Resource Management, both at undergraduate and graduate levels. He was an Erasmus visiting scholar at Hamburg University in 2007.

Assistant Professors:

Ilker AKTUKUN is Assistant Professor of Political History at the Department of International Relations. He received his MA and PhD. (International Relations) from Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences. He became Research Assistant in Faculty of Economics (1995-2002). He teaches Political History , Recent Diplomatic History and Society and Politics in Central Asia and Caucasus (undergraduate), History and Politics Within the Russian Geographical Space, History of the Relation-ship Between Sports and Politics (graduate) at the Faculty of Political Sciences. His areas of interest are History of USSR and Sports-Politics Relation-ship.

Mehmet ALKAN is Assistant Professor of political history. He took his B.A from the Ankara University Faculty of Political Science in 1985, and his M.A (1989) and his Ph.D. (1996) from the Istanbul University Faculty of Political Sciences. His areas of interest include History of Modernisation of the late Ottoman and Republican periods. He has published on political, social and philosophical history of Ottoman and Republican periods.

Nurcan Ozgur BAKLACIOGLU is Assistant Professor at the Department of International Relations. She received her BA, MA and PhD from the Istanbul University, Department of International Relations. She also holds an MA in Political Sciences from the Central European University, Budapest. Her areas of interest and lecturing include modern Balkan politics and society, international migration, refugees and IDP's, plural citizenship, crossborder politics, Turkish Balkan Politics and social aspects of Turkish foreign policy.

Adil BAKTIAYA is Assistant Professor of Political History at the Department of International Relations. He received his B.A. (Business Administration) from Faculty of Business Administration of Istanbul University; M.A. and Ph.D. (International Relations) from Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences. He became Research Assistant in Faculty of Economics (1998-2002). He teaches Political History and History of Ottoman Diplomacy (undergraduate), Ottoman Diplomatics and Paleography (graduate) at the Faculty of Political Sciences. His areas of interest are History of Middle East and state and security in 19th century.

Ali O. BALKANLI is Assistant Professor of Economics. He received his BA in 1987 in the Faculty of Political Science, Istanbul University. He gained his MA at the Faculty of Economics of the same university. He has been working at the Faculty of Political Science since 1988 first as a research assistant and then as assistant professor. His main areas of interest are economic development, industrialisation, financial development. His lectures include those on Turkish economy, Introduction to Economics II, Market Organisation.

Sevim BUDAK is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Istanbul. She has completed her PhD at the same faculty in 1997. She lectures on environmental and urban policies and legal problems encountered and on the Political System of the European Union. She specializes on the EU Environment Policy and Law. Her publications include EU and Turkish Environment Policy (2000), EU Environment Policy and Turkish Harmonisation (2001), Protection of Water Resources in Comparative Law (2000).

Sevgi Ucan CUBUKCU is Assistant Professor at the Department of International Relations. She got her BSc in International Relations from Istanbul University, Faculty of Economics in 1988. She received her MSc from the Bosphorus University in 1995. She has been a visiting research fellow at London School of Economics and School of Oriental and African Studies in London before completing her PhD in International Relations in 2002 in Istanbul University. Sevgi Uçan Çubukçu teaches "Global Society, Global Politics", "Introduction te Political Science" and "Feminist Theory". Her interests include new social movements, feminism, globalisation and social democracy.

Ferhat ERCIN is an Assistant Professor of Turkish Civil Law in the Public Administration Department of Istanbul University. He graduated from the Law Faculty of the same University in 1992. He received his M.A. degree in Public Law from there as well. His Masters dissertation was on “The Influence of Penalty Law Decisions on Civil Courts” (1996). In addition to his academic career he also took his apprenticeship in Law at the Istanbul Bar (1993). He earned his PhD from the Department of Private Law of Marmara University (2002) The topic of his dissertation was “The Special Characteristics of co-operatives in Turkish legislation. “He lectures on Introduction to Law, Main Concepts of Law, Turkish Civil Law and Turkish Commercial Law.

Zeynep Kıvılcım FORSMAN is Assistant Professor in the Departement of International Relations. She graduated from Ankara University Law Faculty at 1993. She received her master’s degree and her PhD from Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II). She is lecturing on Public International Law and Human Rights. Her research interests include international human rights law, legal aspects of biotechnologies, international non-governmental organisations and transnational law making processes.

E. Zeynep GULER is Assistant Professor in the Department of International Relations. She received her BA (1986) in Sociology, Bosphorus University and in English Language and Literature (2002), Istanbul University. She obtained her PhD (2002) in International Relations from Istanbul University. She worked as a Research Assistant at Istanbul University. She studied at Lund University, Department of Sociology of Law, Sweden as visiting researcher and gave seminars for an academic year. Research interests and publications on social history, oral history narratives on social life, entertainment and women’s world, family history, identity and culture, formation of the idea of Europe, modernization in Middle Eastern societies and film critic. She gives lectures on modernization, problems of the Middle Eastern societies and development issues.

Mehmet Akif ICKE, is Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration. He received his B.A. (1992) in Public Administration and M.A. (1995) in Economic Theory, Istanbul University. He gained his Ph. D. (2002) in Economics from Istanbul University. His areas of interest are European Economic and Monetary Integration, European Financial Integration, Institutional Economics, Micro Economics. His lectures include those on Introduction to Economics, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics.

Yücel KARLIKLI is Assistant Professor in Social and Political Sciences since 1988. He received his BA in 1984, his MA in 1987, PhD in 1994. His lectures include History of Political Thought, Turkish Constitutional Order and Turkish Political Life. His main area of interest in contemporary Turkish Political History.

Inci Ozkan KERESTECIOGLU graduated from Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration in 1988. She gained her M.A. in 1991 from Istanbul University and her Ph.D. with a thesis entitled "Nationalism as a Phenomenon and Discourse" from the same university's Institute of Social Sciences in 1998. She is lecturing on Political Sociology, Political Science, International Problems. Her main interests include nationalism, feminism, new social movements.

Ertugrul KIZILKAYA is Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Political Sciences. He received her M.A. (1995) in Economics, and his Ph.D. (2001) in Economics from Faculty of Economics, Istanbul University. He became Research Assistant (1993) and then Lecturer (2004-) in Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul University. Research interests and publications in the history of economic thought, economic methodology and economic history. His lectures include economics, history of economic thought and monetary theory and policy.

Aysegül Yakar ONAL is assistant professor in the Department of Public Administration. She received her B.A. (1990) and M.A. (1995) in Economics, Istanbul University. She obtained her PhD (2002) in Public Finance from Istanbul University. She became research assistant in the Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul University (1993-2005). Research interests and publications in public finance, local government finance, political economy and urban economics. Her lectures include those on public finance, public sector economics, and world economy.

Pelin Pinar OZDEN is Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration. She received her BA (city and regional planning), from Yildiz Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, MA (restoration) and Ph.D. (city planning) from the Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Architecture. She became Assistant Professor in 2005. Her Research interests and publications are on urban regeneration, housing, urban governance, local governments and urban legacy. She teaches “Urbanization Policy and Law” (undergraduate), “Metropolitan Area Problems” and” Local Governments Policy and Law” (graduate) at the Faculty of Political Sciences. She also teaches “Legal and Governmental Aspects of City Planning” at Yildiz Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of City and Regional Planning. She is the second head of Chamber of City Planners Istanbul Branch.

Murat OZLER is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration. He received his BA in Public Administration, MA in Political and Social Sciences and PhD in Public Administration at The University of Istanbul, Faculty of Political Science, Department of Public Administration. His research area covers Public Administration, Local Government Organizations, National Security and Special Security issues.

Hasan SABIR is Assistant Professor. He got his B.A. in 1992, and received his Ph.D. in economics in 2002 with a thesis on the "Global Competition system and policies in the process of the liberalisation of world trade". He has published articles on Competition and Trade Policy, World economy and economics of globalisation.

Sebnem SAYHAN is Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration. She is graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Law in 1983. She took her LLM from Istanbul University in 1985. She has completed her Ph.D. in Public Law in 1994. She is lecturing on Administrative Law and Administrative Science and Public Administration.

Sevgi Usta SAYITA is Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration. She completed her MA and PhD at the Law Faculty of Istanbul University. Her lectures include Introduction to Law, Civil Law, Social Welfare Law, Her special area of interest is Children's Law.

Engin SELCUK is assistant professor of constitutional law of the Department of Puclic Adminisration. He received his M.A. (1998) and Ph.D. (2003) at the Istanbul University. He was visiting scholar to the CERSA, Paris University 2, Panthéon-Assas, Paris in 2001-2002. He is lecturer in constitutional Law at the Faculty of Political Sciences.

Sezai TEMELLI is Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration. He received her BA (1985) and MA (1987) in Public Finance, Istanbul University. He gained his PhD (1996) in Economics from Istanbul University. He became research assistant in the Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul University (1986-1997). Research interests and publications in public finance, political economy, poverty and social exclusion. His lectures include those on public finance, public sector economics and statistics.

Ozlem TERZI is Assistant Professor at the Department of International Relations. She received her PhD in International Relations from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2003. She studied at the London School of Economics European Institute between 1998-1999, where she received her MSc. in European Studies in 1999. She also has an MSc in International Relations from the Department of International Relations (1997), METU, where she worked as a research assistant between 1995-1999. She completed her BSc in International Relations at Ankara University in 1995. She is currently teaching courses on International Politics and Political System and Law of the EU. Her research interests include EU foreign policy, European integration, EU-Turkish relations and Europeanisation of Turkish foreign policy.

Başak TURAN, is Assistant Professor of Accounting and Finance at Department of Business Administration. She receives her BSc. (1996) in Business Administration from İstanbul University School of Political Science and MS. (1999) from İstanbul University, Faculty of Business Administration, Department of Finance. She has completed her PhD from Marmara University, Department of Accounting and Finance. She studied at Australian Graduate School of Management, Australia in 2005 before completing her PhD. Her research interests are, Mergers and Acquisitions, Financial Integration, European Financial Integration, and Behavioral Finance. She gives lecture on Financial Management.

Kıvanç ULUSOY is currently an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the Istanbul University. He completed his doctoral studies at the Boğaziçi University. Before he was appointed to the Istanbul University, he was a Research Fellow at the Center for European Studies of the Middle East Technical University, Ankara. He was also granted a Jean Monnet Fellowship to conduct post-doctoral research at the European University Institute in Florence. His areas of research include regime change and democratization, Spanish political transformation, Turkish politics and Turkey-EU relations. Some of his recent publications are “Saving the State Again: Turks face the Challenge of European Governance”, SIGMA Papers, (Paris: OECD, 2005); “The Challenge of European Governance to Turkish Politics and Political Structure” in N. Tocci and A. Evin (eds) Towards Accession Negotiations: Turkey’s Domestic and Foreign Policy Challenges Ahead (Florence: RSCAS, 2004); “Turkey’s reform reconsidered, 1987-2004”, Democratization, June 2007.

Serhat YANIK graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences in 1991. He took his MBA from Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences in 1994. He has completed his PhD at the same faculty with his thesis entitled "Solvency Analysis in Insurance Companies and A Case Study From Turkish Insurance Industry" in 2000. Published books, "Solvency Analysis in Insurance Companies (2001), Electronic Insurance (2002). He is lecturing on Financial Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis.

Research Assistants:

Hakan GUNES is a PhD in the field of Russian, Central Asian and Caucasian studies, working in the International Relations Department. He received his PhD Degree in 2005 from Marmara University (Istanbul) and has been working in Istanbul University since 1999. His research fields are social and political developments in post-socialist Central Asia, Russia and China with a special focus on people and power relations in these regions. He conducted several researches in collaboration with various universities from Russian Federation , United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

Tughan SERIM is research assistant of Administrative Sciences in the Public Administration Department. He received his B.A. at the Faculty of Law of Marmara University and M.A. in European Union Law at Marmara University. He received Ph.D. in Public Law at Istanbul University. He is also a member of Istanbul Bar Association.

Gokce AKDEMIR is a research assistant  at the Department of  Business Administration . She received her BA (2005) in Business Administration and Economics (double major), Istanbul Kültür University and MA (2005+) in Management and Organization, Istanbul University.

Ozgun AKDURAN is research assistant in the Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul University. She received her BA (2000) in Business Administration, Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Science. She holds an M.A. degree on Women and Gender Studies. She is a PhD student in the Department of Public Finance, Istanbul University and works on the possibilities of more gender aware public finance policies based on the practices of gender sensitive budgeting processes.

Irfan AKYUZ  is a Research Assistant  at the Department of  Business Administration . He received his BA (2005) in Administration, Istanbul University and MA (2005+) in Marketing, Istanbul University.

Sedat APAK is Research Assistant at the department of Public Administration. He received his BA (1998) and MA (2001) in Public Finance in Istanbul University. His MA topic was Taxing of Repurchase Agreements. He became Research Assistant in Faculty of Political Science, Istanbul University (2000). He was accepted as a PhD candidate to the Economics Faculty, Istanbul University (2001). His research interests include Budget Law, Tax Law and Taxing issues in the integration process to the European Union.

Omur AYDIN is Research Assistant at the Department of Public Administration. He received his BA (1998) and Master’s Degree (2001) in Public Administration, Istanbul University. He is currently writing a PhD thesis entitled “Constructing The Idea of Democratic Society in The Common Setting of European Human Rights Law". His areas of interest are constitutional law and international human rights law, focused particularly on the ECHR.

Emre AYKOC is research assistant in the International Relations department. He received his BA degree from Trakya University Public Administration department and MA degree from Trakya University International Relations department. He is currently PhD candidate. His areas of interests are minorities, Turkish-Greek relations and the Cyprus problem and globalization and its social effects.

Mehmet Akif BARDAKCI is Research Assistant of Administrative Law in the Department of Public Administration. He received his B.A. (Public Administration, 2003 and Law, 2005) and M.A. (Public Law, 2006) from The University of Istanbul. Ahmet BEKMEN is a research assistant in the field of political science in the International Relations Department. He received his BA (International Relations) from the University of Istanbul and his MA from Bogazici University-Institute of Ataturk Principles. With the Jean Monnet Schoolarship he visited the University of Kent (England) as visiting scholar between 2004-2005. His areas of interest are Political Theory (Marxism, Foucaultdian Studies) and aspects of neoliberal globalization.

Yavuz CANKARA is research assistant at the Department of International Relations. He received his B.A in 2004 Gebze Institute of Technology. His PhD. now in progress at the Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Science. His areas of interest are Turkish Foreign Policy, Iran, Middle East, Nuclear Policy, US-Iran relations and Security Policy

S. Irem CAKIRCA is research assistant in the Department of Public Administration. She received her B.A. (2003) and LL.M. in Private Law (2006) at the Faculty of Law in Istanbul University. She is a Ph.D. candidate at the Faculty of Law in Istanbul University. Her research interests are in civil law.

Y. Dogan CETINKAYA is a research assistant at the Department of International Relations. He received his BA from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Istanbul University in 1997. He had his first MA degree from Boğaziçi University, Department of History in 2002. He got his second MA from the Central European University in Budapest in 2004. He is currently writing his PhD thesis in the Department of History at Boğaziçi University. His book titled 1908 Osmanlı Boykotu was published in 2004 and an edition of him on social movements is forthcoming. His area of interest is social and economic history of Turkey, Turkish Nationalism, and Historiography and Social Theory.

Mustafa Gorkem DOGAN is research assistant at the department of Public Administration. He received his B.A. (2000) in Politics and M.A. (2003) in Modern Turkish History, Boğaziçi University. He became Research Assistant in Faculty of Political Science, Istanbul University (2000). He spent a year as a visiting researcher at European University Institute in Florence (2005-2006). His research interests include Turkish Political Life, Political and Social Theory, Social Movements and Labor History.

Yigit DOGAN is a Research Assistant of Urbanization and Environmental Problems in the Department of Public Administration. He received his BA (Public Administration, 2005) and MA (Public Administration, 2006, still studying) from The University of Istanbul. He is studying on Environmental Politics and Climate Change, also interested in other ecological problems.

Y. Burcak (Boydak) DUMANLI is Lecturer of the Department of International Relations. She received her B.A at the Faculty of Business Administration of Istanbul University and MSc in Information Technologies, Isik University. Currently, she is a PhD Student of International Relations at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul University. Her areas of interest are Theories of International Relations, Information Technologies and Politics, Domestic and Foreign Capital Markets. After working in Finance sector for many years, she started to make an academic career in International Politics. She has got many academic papers and articles and attended in many academic projects. She is also a member of International Political Science Association (IPSA) and Informatics Association of Turkey (IAT)

Ozgun ERLER is a research assistant and PhD student at the University of İstanbul, Department of International Relations. Her PhD dissertation is about “Polish Foreign Policy in the Post-communist Era”. She received her B.A. (2002) and M.A. (2004) in International Relations from Istanbul University. Her areas of interest are Central and Eastern European Politics, Foreign Policy Analysis, Turkish Foreign Politics and Theories of International Relations.

Sevil ERTUGRUL is Research Assistant in International Relations. She received her BA (International Relations) from Eastern Mediterranean University in 2001 and MA (International Relations) from Trakya University in 2005. She is currently a Ph.D. student in International Relations Department.

Bulut GURPINAR is Research Assistant in International Relations department. She received her BA degree (2001)  from University of Istanbul, Faculty of Political Sciences and MA degree (2004) from Gebze Institute of Technology. She is currently working on her PhD thesis in the Social Sciences Institute of Istanbul University. Her areas of interest are Turkish Foreign Policy and Foreign Policy making, second-track diplomacy.

Oguz KAAN

Cemile Burcu KARTAL is research assistant of political history in the International Relations Department. She received her B.A. (Public Administration), M.A (International Relations) from the University of Istanbul, Faculty of Political Science. Currently she is a PhD student at University of Istanbul, Faculty of Political Science. Her areas of interest are history of modernisation of the late Ottoman and Republican periods.

Serkan KEKEVI is research assistant at the Department of International Relations. He received his M.A in 2004 Gebze Institute of Technology. His PhD. now in progress at the Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Science. His areas of interest are Turkish Foreign Policy, Iraq, Turkomans, Kurds, Middle East, Sovereignty theory, Globalization and its effects over Foreign Policy.

Erhan KELESOGLU  is research assistant at the Department of International Relations. He received his BA (1997) in International Relations from Faculty of Political Sciences at Istanbul University and gained his MA degree(2002) in International Relations, Faculty of Economics at the same university. He worked as correspondent in the weekly journal, Nokta (1998) and became research assistant in 1999. With a scholarship from Jordanian Government he studied Arabic at the University of Jordan, Amman (2001-2002) and was visiting scholar for a semester in Department of International Relations at University of Southern California (2006). His research interests are centered on Arab-Israeli Conflict, Palestinian Politics and Middle Eastern Politics.

Gokmen KILICOGLU is Research Assistant at the Department of International Relations. He received his M.A. (2004) at Gebze Institute of Technology . His Ph. D now in progress at Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Science. His areas of interest are Armenian Question, terrorism, Russia, Caucasia and Turkish Foreign Policy.

Alptekin MOLLA is research assistant in the Department of International Relations. He received his BA and MA in International Relations. He is currently PhD candidate. His areas of interests are international security and security organizations.

Eylem OZDEMIR is Research Assistant in Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Public Administration since 2000. She gained her BA degree in 1998 at Ankara University, The Faculty of Political Science, The Department of Public Administration. She received her MA degree in2002 at Istanbul University, The Faculty of Political Science, The Department of International Relations, “Identity Politics and Radical Democracy Strategies”. She studied at Koeln University, The Institute of Intercultural Studies, Erasmus Exchange Programme, Research on The Social Integration Problems of Minorities during 2005-2006. She is also PhD Candidate at Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Public Administration.

Merve OZKAN is research assistant of Public International Law of the Department of International Relations. She received her BA in the Department of International Relations and the Department of Public Administration at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Istanbul University and her MA in Boğaziçi University. She is currently working on her MA thesis in the Social Sciences Institute of Istanbul University.

G. Gurkan OZTAN is a Research Assistant of Political Science of the Department of International Relations. He received his BA in the Department of International Relations and Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Istanbul University and his MA in Istanbul University. He is currently working on his PhD thesis in the Social Sciences Institute of Istanbul University.

Suat SOYLEMEZ is a Research Assistant in the Department of Public Administration. He received his BA from the University of Selçuk, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Science (1998) and MA from the University of İstanbul 2003. He is currently PhD candidate. Globalization, social impact of globalization, globalization and human rights are research bases of him.

Mustafa Ozan SAHIN is Research Assistant in International Relations. He received her BA (International Relations) from Istanbul University in 1996 and MA (Political Economy) from Marmara University in 2002. He is currently a PhD student in International Relations Department.

Bulent SENER is research assistant in the International Relations Department. He received his BA (International Relations, 2000) and MA (International Relations, 2005) from the Karadeniz Technical University. His research interests are International Security Problems, International Terrorism, Europe Security, Geopolitics.

Bilal SINIK is Research Assistant in the Department of Public Administration. He received his B.A. (1998) and M.A. (2001) in Public Administration, Istanbul University. He is Ph.D. candidate (2001-). Research interests and publications in comparative local government, public personnel administration and administrative structure of Turkey.

Volkan TATAR is research assistant in the International Relations department. He received his BA Public Administration (2001) and MA in International Relations (2005). He is currently PhD candidate. His areas of interests is international security and politics especially in the Middle East region.

Ipek TURKER is a research assistant of Business Administration Department. She received her B.A. at the Faculty of Economics of Istanbul University and did her MA in Accounting and Audit at Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration in (2003). She is currently doing Ph.D. in Accounting at Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration.

Vahap ULUC is Research Assistant in the Public Administration department. He received his BA and MA in the Department of Public Administration. He is currently PhD candidate. His area of interest is Political Science.

Sinem YARGIC is Research Assistant at the Department of Public Administration. She received her BA at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul University. She received her MSc in International Relations at Galatasaray University. She did her LL.M. in International law at Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University. She is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Law of Istanbul University.

Ilkay YILMAZ is a Research Assistant of political and social science in the public administration department. She received her B.A and M.A. in Istanbul University Faculty of Political Science. Her M.A. thesis is; After 1990 The Effect of the Women Movements on the Democratisation of Turkey: Turkish Penal Code Platform Case.
