The Students' Cultural Centre

Istanbul University strongly supports the extracurricular activities of its students, since these are an invaluable part of contemporary education. One concrete example of this concern on the part of the university is the existence of student clubs. Students have the opportunity to carry out such activities both at the Students’ Cultural Centre (SCC) situated at the Beyazyt and Avcylar Campuses, and within the faculties or colleges to which they belong.
In addition to cinema and theatre stages at the SCC, computers, and video and cine-vision appliances needed for student activities and projects are supported by the University. Such activities are also sponsored financially. The SCC also functions as the coordinator for national and international activities.
Among the traditional activities organized by the SCC are the Istanbul University Culture Days, and the opening and end-of-year festivities of the University. In the Faculty of Economics, a total of 1615 graduate students is enrolled in the 2000-2001 academic calendar, consisting of 812 female and 803 male students.
