Counseling
The Guidance, Counseling and Social Support Unit established in 1999 is based on the idea that problems can only be solved if they are discussed. It operates in 11 separate centres. The teaching staffs of Istanbul University appointed to these centres try to help our students throughout their education.
The following are the areas in which these centres operate:
- Helping students coming from outside Istanbul to adjust to the conditions of a big urban center, and guiding them in individual problems arising from this estrangement.
- Cooperating with students to find solutions to their problems, and aiding them in their admission to state or university dormitories.
- Identifying students in need of scholarships, and allocating scholarships made available by the Chancellery.
- Finding part-time jobs for our students to alleviate their financial problems.
- Aiding our students in need through clothing assistance.
- Assisting our students in taking advantage of diverse cultural activities in Istanbul.
- Organizing social, arts-related, and cultural activities with a view to support the social and cultural development of students.
