Student Clubs
The main characteristic of the Students’ Cultural Centre affiliated to the Department of Health, Culture, and Sports is that it is an environment where students from all faculties find a chance to meet. Students from diverse subjects get together at SCC clubs and exchange their experiences. The SCC also provides an effective opportunity offered by Istanbul University for the fostering of communication between students and the academic staff.
The following are some of the clubs activities at the SCC; conferences, panels, discussions, and debates: the Club to Propagation of Atatürk’s Principles, the Archeology Club, the Knowledge Club, the Language Club, the Dance Club, the Paper Marbling Club, the Literature Club, the Ecology Club, the Photography Club, the Philosophy Club, the Travel Club, the Folklore Club, the Legal Research Club, the Caricature and Humour Club, the Classical Turkish Music Club, the Music Club, the Art Club, the Film Club, the Social Research Club, the Social Solidarity Club, the Theatre Club, and the History Club. The only prerequisite for becoming a member of a SCC club is to be a student of Istanbul University. Membership registrations take place every year in October. Including faculty and college clubs, more than 200 clubs are active at Istanbul University. Activities organized by the SCC are accessible by all students, including non-members.
