Nowadays, molecular biology and genetics have been significantly affected various basic and applied sciences (medicine, agriculture, livestock, etc.) as well as industry. In the production of all of modern biotechnological products are based of knowledge in molecular biology and genetic engineering applications.
Undergraduate and postgraduate education are being given and scientific research is performed in the field of molecular biology and genetics in our department. The main goal of education in these areas is to contribute to increase trained manpower in our country. Programs are equipped with knowledge and application oriented to meet the requirements of the graduates in various fields of molecular biology and industry.
In addition, MSc and PhD programs especially in the areas of yeast molecular biology, plant molecular biology, biotechnology and natural bioactive substances are opened each year.
There are bilateral agreements with various Universities in Europe for the framework of the ERASMUS, and undergraduate / graduate level students are being exchanged.
Our department has strong and specialized staff consisting of 7 Professors, 1 Associated Professor, 6 Assistant Professors, 8 Research Assistants and 2 Biologists. Moreover, analysis and scientific consulting services are provided. Scientific meetings and practical training programs are organized association with Research and Application Center for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (BIOGEM) at Istanbul University.
Research labs were designed for the studies of plant biotechnology, identification of genetically modified organisms, proteomics, yeast technology, animal tissue culture and molecular diagnosis of the diseases.
