Our former Department Library regulated as the Library of Faculty of Sciences between April 2002 and April 2006. Since April 2006 it has been re-established and restructured as " the Library of Department of Mathematics "

Our Library has a very rich and old sources in  Math Field area. Our oldest published which has related to 18 century is an algebra book. Although the centuries pass, Our library has very rare books which has good paper quality, tome and it has more than one magazine that  first edition based on  1800s.

In addition, our library has a collection which is called "Collected Works" and is placed historically. This collection includes  the work of mathematicians which  contributed to the development of Mathematical Sciences

"Systematic Placement" has been made in our Library. Our main goal is that researchers can see the publications on the same subject together.

The loan book is not given to students, only a student of the Department of Mathematics can benefit in order to study. Our students from the other Department of Faculty  and coming from outside can benefit by taking photocopies.

 HOW CAN PEOPLE BENEFIT FROM THE LIBRARY

In our Library, The  Academic Staff of Department of Mathematics,undergraduate and graduate students of our Department as well as academicians and students of Istanbul University and also Academic Staff and students from other Universities may be served.

Teaching member can benefit from our library by borrowing the books. Our students and other students from outside can benefit from our library by taking photocopies.  

GENERAL RULES:

• The basic rule is to be quiet to use the library!
• Should not enter inside with food and beverages,
• Students coming to the library must give identity  (student ID, birth or driver's license) to staff,
• Because of the book is not given, the student can benefit from books by taking photocopy or by sitting in the living room.
• Library books and bags in your hand will be shown while you go out if the staff wants,
• Those who lose or damage library materials has to get a new one, if they can not get they has to pay the price over the day,
• Should not be shot without permission with camera, photo camera etc. in the library .

BENEFIT CONDITIONS:

• Student of Department of Mathematics can benefit by taking photocopies or by sitting in the room.Foreign students can benefit by taking photocopies from the library.
• Academic Personnel of Department of Mathematics of  I.U. Science Faculty can receive 10 pieces borrowed books for a period of 3 months .
• From other universities and the other Department of Faculty teaching members who give the lesson in the Department of Mathematics according to 2547 of the law  40/a substance can receive 10 units books for a period of 3 months until their employment complete.
• Our faculty members who retired from our Department can receive 10 pieces borrowed books for a period of 3 months
• Readers from outside can benefit from the library material by taking photocopy. Not receive books and publications.
• Not lend counseling resources, periodicals, non-printed thesis, writing and printing rare boks
• A faculty member can not borrow books and publications instead of another faculty member.
• If another faculty member wants a borrowing expired publication , the library staff has the right to request publication.
• If another faculty member wants a copy of the loan in the event of the publication, the library assistants, without waiting for the date of return, has the right to broadcast the recall.
• For loss of books and publications; getting lost and running to the library to give a value loss of unknown books and publications for the Department to be created by the publication by the Commission to determine whether fair price must be paid. Make photocopies of books and publications that are lost whether the library can not be delivered.

 

THESES:

Thesis in the library are placed according to coming order to the library in separate shelf. Reader from outside can benefit from thesis to receive partial copy.

PERIODICALS:

Subscribe to the periodicals exchange periodicals of the our department  are placed in a systematic manner. Periodicals are not loaned to readers but the copies of the article may be taken.

COPY:

Copies of the library materials one can take except for our academic staff leaving identity. Thesis can not be copied according to the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works.

WORKING HOURS:

Our Library serves between 08:30 and 17:00 in weekdays for 12 months.

The reader who goes to copy must be delivered the publication in 15 minutes before closing time.

COLLECTIVE WORKS:

Collective works were placed according to the historical development of Mathematical Sciences, Mathematicians of the order on-death. Although some scientist's works do not placed between collective works in our library,are given place to names in the historical development and are written bold. Although some of the books within collective work are given the number history of astronomy (520.19), on physics (530.19)in topics chance to see in computer has been made by giving "MATHEMATICS - PUBLIC WORKS" topic.
