(IUFP)
IUFP is a faculty of Istanbul
University located near the main campus in Beyazıt offering undergraduate and
graduate degree programs of study and research.
History
160th
year of the foundation of the first educational institution which educated
pharmacists in the modern sense of the world today was celebrated in 1999.
Pharmacy class was opened
officially
on the 14th of May 1839 within the Military School of Medicine.
Following this, the Civilian Medical School founded in 1867 continued to
educate pharmacists. The School of Pharmacy, Dentistry and Nursing was opened
in 1909. The School of Pharmacy was joined to the Faculty of Medicine in 1944.
The Faculty of Pharmacy of Istanbul University started its educational life on the
4th of November 1963. Getting strength from 160 years’ of
experience, IUFP will continue to educate successful pharmacists in the 2000’s
as well.
IUFP
is a faculty located in Beyazıt, the
center of the old town. Istanbul has around 12.000.000 inhabitants and
is situated between Europe and Asia where the two continents meet. The city is
a major port, a center of industry, culture, commerce and tourism of Turkey and
has excellent transportation facilities, making it very easy to reach from most
European capitals. With its international airport and network of land
transportation,
the city is at the crossroads between Europe and Asia.

Library: A library is available in the Faculty of Pharmacy containing
6700 books and 120 subscribed journals.

Tuition Fees: Turkish student 95 Euro per semester. Foreigner 260 Euro per
semester.
Cost of Living: 500.000.000-1.000.000 TL per month including accomodation.

The
students of IUFP have the opportunity to pursue their sporting or recreational
interests indoors and outdoors. For indoor sports, there is a sport hall in
Avcılar Campus which can be used for a variety of sports such as basketball,
volleyball including a gymnasium. In the faculty, table tennis room is also
available.For outdoor sports, the
University has playing fields in every campus. Student clubs and socities are
open to interested students.
Social Facilities:
Special
on campus dormitory for pharmacy students is not available. Students can stay
at the facilities provided by the Istanbul University.
Dormitory
facilities have student cafeterias where breakfast, lunch and dinner are
served. Lunch is also served at various campuses of the University.
No
shuttle is available. Public transportation can be used.
University
owns a Student Cultural Center where students, staff and alumni can participate
in several activities such as sports, drama, folk dancing, photography,
etc.
