The Faculty of Dentistry has been restructured, with the latest technology and an adequate academic cadre, to offer the most up-to-date education in the training of dentists. Negotiations are also under way to obtain degree equivalence with the European Community. Not only does the faculty undertake the education of future dentists, but it also offers a public service in the area of dentistry and, with projects jointly realized with the Ministries of Health and Education, enlightens the public about mouth and teeth hygiene. Education at the Faculty of Dentistry is pursued in two departments,
Fundamental Sciences and Classical Sciences. During the first 4 terms of their education, students follow courses based on theory, as well as practicing with plaster casts, artificial jaws, and extracted teeth in Phantom and Preclinical laboratories. During their 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th terms, they treat patients for all kinds of ailments in clinical environments. The 9th and 10th terms are then spent with seminars, lessons, and five-weeks training with patients.
Students receive a Master’s degree after their 10 terms (5 year) educationand can pursue a Doctorate education at the Institute of Medical Sciences. The Faculty of Dentistry has a guest student programme and international educational relations with Munich and Giessen Universities.
