The Faculty of Pharmacy, the
foundations of which were established in 1839,
constitutes on of the most important links in the
chain of health services by providing Turkey
with pharmacists. Our faculty, the first to teach
in the field, has the biggest contingent of students
and the largest cadre of academic staff, and
publishes the greatest number of books and
research.
Lessons are taught in three departments,
Fundamental Pharmacy,
Pharmaceutical Professional Sciences, and the
Technologies of Pharmaceutics. The length of
education is eight terms (four years), with a oneyear
voluntary preparatory course in the English
language. Our alumni undertake important roles
in health services by working as pharmacists,
public pharmacists, and in the fields of medication,
cosmetics, and food industries.

The academic staff of the faculty present their scientific
activities to the public by participating in national
and international conventions, and by publishing in
scientific journals and books. Our academic staff also
hold national and international science awards. The
herbarium established and affiliated to our faculty in
1945 was given the international appellation of “ISTE
Herbarium” in 1956. There exist 80 000 samples of
flora collected nationwide at this herbarium.
