are
five departments at the Faculty of Economics.
Alumni find professional opportunities in banks,
the State Treasury, the State Planning Commission,
the State Institute of Statistics, and the Central
Bank, or in the private sector, as administrators,
specialists, inspectors, or researchers, depending
on their field of interest.
The Department of Finance aims to equip
students who wish to become top administrators
with the necessary accumulation of knowledge.
In their first undergraduate years, students are
taught courses that are basic to the study of
economics, in cooperation with other departments.
In later years, the focus is on the science of
finance. Some of the courses taught in this field
are public expenditure, state debts, budget, taxation,
the financing of municipal administrations, financing
policies, and other financial systems. Our alumni
find work as bank inspectors, finance inspectors
at the Ministry of Finances, and accountants.
The Department of Economics in English has,
as its main function, the teaching of the basics
of economics. The curriculum is organized to
attentively cover the crucial areas in economics
and mathematics. As the department aims to train
its students from the cultural point of view as
well, a number of elective courses are available
that appeal to the students’ personal interests and
abilities. In addition to the high quality education
provided, students also receive an adequate knowledge
of English. This enables them to have a wider
range of choice in their professional lives, and to
compete in better conditions in the business arena.
There is a preparatory language course at the
department for students whose English is insufficient.
The Department of Economics aims to prepare
students who wish to work as top administrators
in the public and private sectors of the Turkish
economy. Education focuses on basic concepts
of economics and the economy of Turkey.

development, industrial economics, economic growth,
and international money and financial administration.
The Department of Work Economics and
Industrial Relations focuses its research and
teaching activities on social issues, and especially
on the relationships between workers and employers
in social services. The department teaches basic

institutions, especially the Ministry of Employment
and Social Security.
The Department of Econometrics was the first
