The institute was founded in 1982 for graduate
studies.
The institute catered for the Departments of
Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy and Space Sciences,
Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Geological
Engineering, Geophysical Engineering, Forestry
Engineering, and Forestry Industrial Engineering, but
to these were added Maritime Engineering
in 1986-87, Electronics Engineering in 1989-90

Engineering, Ecological Engineering, and Landscape
Architecture in 1990-91, Electric-Electronic Engineering,
Construction Engineering, Metal Engineering,

and Defence Technologies in 1992-93, Biomedical
Engineering, Aquatic Sciences Basic Sciences, Aquatic
Sciences Hunting and Processing, and Aquatic
Sciences Breeding in 1993-94.

Forestry, and Aquatic Sciences. The institute aims
to train researchers and academic staff for the world
of science and students from 28 departments continue
their M.A. and Ph.D. studies at the Institute.
