The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, which practices on the Avcilar Campus, has as its aim the planning and application of research based on international standards, modern science and technology, and the general health and animal husbandry policies of the country and the training of veterinary surgeons aware of these standards. The main function of the faculty is to protect human and animal health, to educate the people in issues like animal rights and ecology, to develop new scientific techniques in the profession, and to create policies of modern animal husbandry.
Importance is also given to working towards the cooperation between the university and the industry. Academic research congresses for students are also organized. An agreement of academic cooperation is still in operation between the faculty and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Ludwig Maximillian University, Munich in Germany. The faculty has also approached the EAEVE (European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education) evaluation programme and work is currently continuing for commendation.
