Graduate and Doctorate Studies Graduate studies (M.A. and Doctorate degrees) are undertaken at institutes at Istanbul University. Graduate study programmes, generally undertaken in the fields of social sciences, medicine, and sciences, are subdivided into many branches. Thus, our students get the chance of specializing in more depth in the fields of their choice. Graduates of both nationwide and foreign universities apply for admission at our M.A. and doctorate programmes. The teaching staff consists of specialized Turkish and foreign academics. Graduates can apply for places at the M.A. programme of their choice, and those who hold M.A. degrees can apply for Ph.D. programmes. To be admitted, applicants have to be successful in a foreign language examination and the oral examination administered by the faculty in question. Applicants interested in social sciences can apply to the Institute of Social Sciences, the Institute of Management Economics, or the Institute for Atatürk's Principles and Reforms. The Institute of Sciences and the Institute of Maritime Sciences and Management cater for applicants interested in specializing in the sciences. There is a wide range of subjects offered at our University in the field of Medicine. The Institute of Medical Sciences, The Institute of Forensics, the Institute of Experimental Medical Research, the Institute of Lung Diseases and Tuberculosis, the Institute of Child Health, the Oncology Institute, and the Institute of Cardiology aid students to specialize in the field of medicine.
