Erasmus Agreements
Division of German Translation and Interpreting signed the first Erasmus Agreement with University of Graz, Department of Translation in 2005 (Institut für Translationswissenschaft 2006 - 2013). Currently, 3 students from German Department, 1 student from English Department are being exchanged.
In 2006, a new agreement with University of Mainz at Germersheim (Fachbereich Angewandte Sprach- und Kulturwissenschaft, Institute für Interkulturelle Kommunikation/Germanistik, 2006 – 2014) was signed. Within the scope of this agreement, 2 students per year or 2 students per term are attending the courses at Germersheim and joining Erasmus Exchange Programme.
In 2006, another agreement for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programmes with University of Bonn, (Institute für Orient- und Asienwissenschaften der Universitaet Bonn 2006 - 2009) was signed. 2 students per term may attend this programme according to the agreement.
By 2008, 19 students from Department of Translation Studies had attended Erasmus Exchange Programme in different universities and departments.
4 students of University of Graz and University of Bonn have attended our programme within the scope of the agreements.
There are also Academic Staff Exchange Agreements for three divisions. By 2008 4 of our academic staff had given lectures at University of Graz and Germersheim and from the same universities 3 academicians had taken place in our education programme.
To Conclude:
As we have mentioned in the beginning, there is a busy interaction between our Department and the above mentioned universities within the scope of Erasmus Exchange Programme. It is possible to say from the feedbacks of the incoming and outgoing students that, this exchange programme is a great opportunity for language practice and intercultural interaction.
Up to the present, all of our outgoing students returned back with valuable experiences and impressions. However, it is important for the outgoing students to be in close contact with their Department Erasmus Coordinators. Generally, the problems arise in the accreditation of the courses, so it is important for the students to be in contact with the Department Coordinator during the preperation, signing and authorization process of Learning Agreement. This process is the same for the incoming students. It is possible to face some serious problems if the process is not on time.
Transcript of Records is another important document, which shows the courses and the exam results, needs to be given to Department Erasmus Coordinator just after the return of the student.
Serious problems for the graduation may arise unless the abovementioned documents are delivered on time.
It is strongly recommended to the students not to delay any process.
Erasmus Exchange Programme is a great opportunity and experience for both outgoing and incoming students.
