Education Programme

There is a joint programme of German, English and French Departments for undergraduate, M.A. and Ph.D. studies. The academic staff of the Translation Studies Department are all experts of translation and interpreting with their professional background. 

 

Undergraduate

After passing the university entrance exam the students who possess a degree in translation and interpreting has the right to continue our undergraduate programme. Currently, the number of students who have started the programme are between 40  and 42.

The first four terms are for developing basic skills and understanding of translation and interpreting (source and target culture, oral and written competence and the related components of the translation process). The last four terms are modular and elective.  Law and Economics modules are parellel in written and oral formates. For the last year,  the students prepare final projects according to their elective  module and in the end of the sixth term they complete an internship for 40 days to use and improve their translation and interpreting skills. Education programme is partially common in all three departments for basic lectures. The language of common courses is Turkish. Practical courses are given in their particular foreign languages. Sources for the courses are multilingual.

 

M.A. and Ph.D.

The students for both programmes are from German, English and French languages. In recent years, 8 students for M.A., 3 to 5 students for Ph.D. have been accepted for the programmes. The language of the courses is Turkish, sources for the courses are multilingual.
The courses are for two-three terms. The students prepare dissertations for graduation according to their specialization.
