She was born in Istanbul in 1969. She graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Education Division of English Language Teaching in 1990. She worked as an English teacher at Özel Arı Lisesi and Ankara Incirli Lisesi from 1990 to 1992. From 1992 to 2001 she worked as a lecturer of English at Istanbul University Faculty of Economics. In 1996, she completed her Master's degree at Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences. She worked as a lecturer of English at Istanbul University Department of Foreign Languages from 2001 to 2003 and from 2003 to 2006 as the Director of the English Unit. She has been working as the deputy head of the Department of Foreign Languages since 2006, and the deputy head of the Language Center of Istanbul University since 2007.
